George Makinson-Son of Evan Makinson

In March of 2002 I was fortunate to find via the Internet, a lady in Washington state whose husband was descended from the Evans family. George Makinson was married to Charlotte B. Evans.  As mentioned earlier, George was the nephew of George Makinson and son of Evan Makinson. Evan and his brother George came over on the boat from England in November of 1840 together with their wives and each of them having one child in the party that came on the boat. Pictures have been obtained that date back to about 1865. These were dated by the revenue stamp on the back of the photos. I have been told that these stamps were required on photos between 1864 and 1866 after which the federal law was repealed. These photos were taken in Ottawa, Illinois in LaSalle County.
